Is having too many animals bad when trying to conceive?

My husband and I are planning to get pregnant in a few months. We have eight cats, two dogs, and one rabbit. We have a pretty big house and five litter boxes and do a good job cleaning and maintaining the house. We have a couple different air purifiers with the cat boxes. Are there any risks during pregnancy? Or even after we have a child and bring it home, is there any way someone could report us for having too many animals with an infant?

As a former Zookeeper, I worked with those whom were pregnant at work and had to care for a large variety of animals. Therefore, the number of animals to care for is not an issue. What you really need to be careful of is handling the litter box for the cats and taking care of dog waste in the yard. Wash your hands well after handling the animals. If they have feces on them (i.e. their paws), you don't want to accidentally ingest it by touching food, candy, etc. Just be extra cautions. When you are further along in your pregnancy, it will become more difficult or uncomfortable to care for your animals. Make sure your husband will understand that he will likely have to care for ALL of the animals himself when you enter your 3rd trimester. I was pregnant with a dog, pot-belly pig, and an iguana. With good teamwork, it will all work out.
