How do you know if a horse is "stocking up"?

like what are the signs and how do you stop it/prevent it/treat it if its caused by hot weather?

You can see the pastern/fetlock areas enlarge, and feel the fluid that has accumulated. Exercise is the best cure for stocking up, and cold hosing the legs will help as well. Standing in a stall is the worst thing for it.
