Is the Basketball hoop set at the same height for both Pro and Amateur Players? Why?
I have often wondered why the very tall pro Basketball players (who are often the same height as the hoop) get to play with such a huge advantage. Shouldn't pro hoops have the same height difference as you see, for example, in a high school game with average-height players, where the hoop is way over their heads? Wouldn't it take more skill, then?
I realize they aren't 10 ft. tall... I should have said that with their arm extended, they can easily reach the hoop, which average-height players could never do.
It is a good thought to have the professional hoop higher, but that would take away a lot of exciting dunks, and the NBA does not want to lose any excitement. It is a business.
