Can we use an normal or universal needle in an embroidery machine?
The embroidery needle is shorter than a sewing needle - this gives some increased clearance for the cloth as it moves along the machine. An embroidery thread is generally thicker than general sewing thread - so it stands that the eye of an embroidery needle will be bigger than a standard needle for sewing. For very small embroidery letters - sometimes size 65/9 is used for the needle.
